"We moved to Woodingdean after twenty years in the hustle and bustle of Brighton to get a bit more space and a lot more peace and quiet. We’ve had a great time here. The house is spacious and comfortable and has become the favourite for our family gatherings (we’ve a big family and have had 10 people staying overnight on some occasions!)

We were lucky to inherit a beautiful cottage garden, with loads of well-established shrubs and flowers, including roses which bloom pretty much all summer long. We’ve added some raised beds for growing vegetables and have had good crops of potatoes, tomatoes, beans, sweetcorn and even aubergines. The sunroom is a great place to relax, whether reading a book or looking out at the garden, where we’ve seen all sorts of wildlife, including hedgehogs, squirrels, foxes and loads of different types of bird.

Woodingdean has a great community feel and there is always plenty going on – just pick up a copy of the community newsletter in one of the local shops or check out the community Facebook page. There are regular buses into town, including the 22 which stops a few minutes from Brighton Station, and the 2 which runs through the town centre to Hove and Shoreham. Buses run late into the evening which means you can enjoy Brighton’s beach, restaurants, shops and pier without the stress and expense of parking.

The house is in the ideal location – just five minutes’ walk from the shops, library, community centre, medical centre and primary school – yet far enough away that you can’t hear the traffic.
