What the owner says: 'I have lived in quite a few houses in my life. From flats in West
London and Tuscany, to houses in Brixton and Brighton. Clyde Road
is my favourite by some margin. To begin with this is the first house
my wife and I chose together, and for that it will always hold a special
place in my heart. It is also the first place in Brighton
where I have truly felt at home. It is spacious, light and airy, and thanks to
our solar panels cheap to run; our electricity and gas bills come to
around £100.00pa, as we get paid for all the solar electricity we generate,
on average £800 over the year.

The little patio outside is south facing and in the spring and summer
stays warm late into the evenings, so we can sit outisde, read and sip
wine. But what really makes the house special is the location.

The Clyde Road area finds itself at the precise geographic heart of
Brighton, a minute's walk from London Road Station, a mere seven

bars so the house allowed us both to enjoy Brighton in ways we never had
done before. Just to our north we have the beautiful Preston Park,

and the Old Steine. We are surrounded by green, and yet completely
central. The area is also a true community. As someone who grew up in
London I had never really understood what this meant. But here people
really do say good morning to one another. And the road is so quiet
that locals will often oraganise street theatre or water pistol fights
for the local kids, blocking off the whole of the adjacent Shaftesbury
Road for part of the day. Easily possible because there is hardly any
traffic.'
